Meet Our Dental Team Athens

Mackinzy | Operations Manager 

Mac is the Operations Manager at Athens Dental Associates. On top of being a Certified Expanded Duties Dental Assistant she is also CPR, OSHA, and Leadership Effectiveness Training (L.E.T.) certified. Mac loves helping patients rediscover their smiles and feels grateful to work alongside such an amazing team. Originally from Conyers, Georgia, she and her husband, Wyatt, have two energetic children, Jaxin and Oaklin, who keep them busy with sports and family adventures. Outside of the office, Mac enjoys spending time at the beach, cooking, and baking.

Jennifer | Patient Care Coordinator

Jennifer has been with us since 1999! She attended the University of Georgia and has over 25 years of dental experience. She is knowledgeable in both front and back office duties (having previously served as a dental assistant, receptionist, and office manager), and is always happy to flow between the two to help out as needed. She goes above and beyond to ensure our patients feel welcome and comfortable with us. Jennifer and Troy have been married for over 30 years and enjoy traveling, being outdoors, and spoiling their four grandchildren.

Ally | Patient Care Coordinator

Ally joined our team in October 2022 and started her dental career in 2020 after graduating from the University of North Georgia. Ally and her husband, Mason, have three golden retrievers, Annie, Charlie, and Willie, whom they adore and love taking to visits at Lake Hartwell. Ally and Mason recently added to their family welcoming their daughter, Palmer. On the weekends, you’ll find them all curled up on the couch watching UGA football. She loves being a member of the team at Athens Dental Associates, and her favorite part is that when anyone walks in the door, they feel like family!

Shelly | Patient Care Coordinator

Shelly is a Patient Care Coordinator at Athens Dental Associates. She attended Southern Wesleyan University and is CPR certified, with continuing education focused on staying up to date with current dental standards and best practices. Shelly loves building lasting relationships with patients and her team, and she enjoys making every patient feel comfortable and understood from the moment they walk through the door. Originally from Monroe, Georgia, she and her husband, Jack, have called Athens home since they were married in 2022. Outside of the office, Shelly enjoys planning travel, singing, playing the ukulele, French horn, and piano, serving in worship ministry, and playing disc golf and pickleball with family and friends.

Tonya | Patient Care Coordinator

Tonya enjoys helping patients feel welcome and making their experience at Athens Dental Associates a positive one from the moment they walk through the door. She earned her dental assisting certification from Assisting 101 School of Dental Assisting and has worked in the dental field for several years. One of her favorite parts of coming to work each day is the supportive team she gets to work alongside. Originally from Monroe, Georgia, Tonya has been married to her husband, Glenn, for over a decade, and they share their home with their beloved dogs and cats. Outside the office, she is a devoted Georgia Bulldogs fan and enjoys spending many Saturday nights at the local dirt track.

Amy | Patient Care Coordinator

Amy enjoys welcoming patients to Athens Dental Associates and helping create a friendly, positive experience from the moment they arrive. A graduate of Georgia College & State University, she is excited to begin her career in dentistry and loves being part of such a supportive team. She looks forward to building relationships with patients while helping them feel comfortable throughout their visits. Originally from Jefferson, Georgia, Amy is married to her husband, Ford, and they have a springer doodle named Ranger. Outside the office, she enjoys reading, needlepoint, crafting, trying new restaurants, and spending time snuggled up with her dog.

Erica | Dental Hygienist

Erica joined our team in 2021 and started her dental career in 2017. She graduated from Athens Technical College as a Registered Dental Hygienist in May 2021 and is passionate about providing our patients with the best care possible to meet their oral hygiene goals. She loves giving our patients the ultimate experience at each visit and enjoys working with our team. Erica and her husband, Josh, have young triplets (two girls and a boy) as well as two dogs that lovingly take up all of their free time.

Hannah D. | Dental Hygienist

Hannah has been with us since September 2023, and nothing makes her more excited than meeting patients and sharing her knowledge about how to enhance their oral health. She began her career as an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant before earning her Associates of Applied Science in Dental Hygiene at Athens Technical College (winning the Hinman Scholar Award and Excellence in Instrumentation Award as a student). Hannah and her husband, Josh, are kept busy by their variety of animals, which include three dogs, two cats, and 11 chickens.

Hannah C. | Dental Hygienist

Being able to connect with patients and help them improve in countless ways by boosting their oral health knowledge always makes Hannah feel great about what she does. She earned her Associates in Dental Hygiene from Fortis College and has over five years of experience. Other than dentistry, she loves her husband, their dog and two cats, being outdoors, and collecting dimes.

Mandy | Dental Hygienist

Mandy is a dental hygienist at Athens Dental Associates who is passionate about building strong, trusting relationships with her patients so she can provide high-quality, personalized care. She earned her bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene from Clayton State College and University and continues her education each year, including current training in laser therapy. Originally from Athens, Mandy has been married for 20 years and has six children ranging from 19 to 8 years old. Outside of the office, she enjoys exercising, spending time with her family and animals, cheering on the Dawgs, relaxing at the beach, and putting her green thumb to work in the garden.

Aaliyah | Dental Assistant

Aaliyah enjoys helping patients leave their appointments feeling happy and confident in their smiles. She earned her dental education at Athens Technical College and is a certified dental assistant with training in radiology, coronal polishing, and expanded functions dental assisting. She takes pride in supporting both patients and the clinical team to help each visit run smoothly.

Originally from Monroe, Aaliyah enjoys spending time with her family trying new restaurants together, roller skating, and attending Zumba classes during the week. A fun fact about her is that she lost her last baby tooth at 17.

Velma | Dental Assistant

Velma is a Certified Expanded Duties Dental Assistant at Athens Dental Associates and brings decades of hands-on dental experience to the team. She loves getting to know her patients and finds it especially rewarding to be part of the process that helps them smile with more confidence. Velma attended Athens Technical College and has completed extensive training and continuing education throughout her career. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, attending theater performances and concerts, and staying active through roller skating and snow skiing. Heather | Dental Assistant

Heather enjoys helping patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visits while supporting them with compassionate, high quality care. As Lead Dental Assistant, she also loves teaching and mentoring others and appreciates working alongside such a great team. She attended Athens Technical College and is certified in General Chairside Assisting, Infection Control, and Radiation Health and Safety through the Dental Assisting National Board. She also holds an Expanded Functions Certification through the Georgia Board of Dentistry. Originally from Watkinsville, Heather has two children, Harrison and Maddie, along with two cats and a dog. Outside the office, she enjoys cooking, gardening, spending time outdoors, relaxing by the pool, and making memories with her family.
