More Comfortable Treatment

Standard braces are notoriously painful because the adjustable archwire places a great deal of tension on your teeth to shift them. Not only that, but sharp corners of the metallic components are known for gouging the tender tissues inside patients’ mouths.

Meanwhile, the smooth plastic trays of SureSmile don’t cut the insides of your lips, cheeks, or gums. You might feel some aches when you first begin wearing a new set of aligners, but this usually dissipates after a few days and can often be safely reduced with Tylenol or ibuprofen.  

Improved Oral Hygiene

Unlike traditional orthodontics, which are difficult to brush and floss, these clear aligners are completely removable, so you can more easily maintain your oral hygiene habits. Although you must wear them for 20 to 22 hours daily, you should take them out morning and night to brush and floss your teeth to prevent common concerns, such as cavities or gum disease.

Be sure to also gently scrub your SureSmile with a soft-bristle brush and clear dish soap or non-abrasive toothpaste that won’t damage the material. Then, rinse it gently with cool or lukewarm water, because hot temperatures might warp the plastic so it no longer fits.

Quick Follow-Ups

You’ll be required to visit our office in Athens approximately every six to eight weeks so we can monitor your progress and ensure your teeth are shifting at the anticipated rate. There is no archwire to adjust, so these visits can be as brief as 15 to 30 minutes.

Our team will use this time to examine your mouth to determine how much progress you’ve made, and provide the next series of trays you’ll be asked to wear.
